High Climber Trio Run Well in 800

Lacey, WA - Led by Brock Knowles, the Shelton High Climbers went one through three in the boy's 800 meter race yesterday, April 10, in a South Sound tri-league meet versus Timberline and Central Kitsap.

Knowles ran a personal best 1:59.37 taking first overall in the 800. This is Knowles second time breaking the two-minute barrier and his second 800 win of the season.


Finishing second and third from Shelton was William Johnson (2:01.82) and Ethan Bursch 2:02.75.


Central Kitsap's Louis Gannon won the boy's 1,600 meter in a season best 4:42.08 and William Putaansuu won the boy's 3,200 meter in a personal best 11:46.39.


Logan Burk and Joseph Vlach ran personal best times in the 1,600 and 3,200 to place second in their races. Burk ran 4:43.88, while Vlach ran 11:46.53.


Timberline's Ronald Amin (1,600) and Kodi Smith-Cruz (3,200) were both third place running 4:45.11 and 11:59.8. Smith-Cruz's 3,200 time is a new personal best.


In the girl's meet, Timberline's Natalia Cornwall won the 1,600 in a season best time of 5:41.83 over Central Kitsap's Taylor Nichols, who ran a personal best time of 5:44.87.


Rissa Eilmes of Central Kitsap placed third in the 1,600 with a personal best time of 5:48.05.


The girl's 800 was won by Central Kitsap's Maya Nichols running 2:28.95.


Shelton's Alauna Carstens personal best time of 2:30.73 placed second in the 800, and Timberline's Cornwall rounded up the top three running a new personal best 2:35.75.


What's Next? Timberline and Shelton will be at the Wolfpack Invite in Tumwater and Central Kitsap will be at the Lil' Norway Invite at North Kitsap.
