Lake Stevens, WA - Some of the best distance runners in the state competed yesterday at Lake Stevens High School as the Vikings hosted Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale in a WESCO Conference tri-meet.
Woodway's Dylan Hartono and Lake Steven's Taylor Roe shined in their opening meets as they both performed well in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter races.
Hartono won the boy's races in times of 4:25.31 and 9:36.
Hortono wasn't alone in his races as he was accompanied by his teammates Deyago Peraza and Lucas Lacambra, as they finished top three as well for the Warriors.
Peraza took second in the 3,200 (9:44.56) and third in the 1,600 (4:31.41), while Lacambra was second in the 1,600 (4:25.85) and third in the 3,200 (9:56.26).
Roe, an Oklahoma State University commit for next fall, won her races pretty comfortably in times of 5:32 and 10:43.48.
The 800 meter winners were Lake Stevens' Bryce Mefford for the boy's and Woodway's Ellie Gard for the girl's.
Mefford beat Woodway's Grant Christian by five tenths of a second running 2:04.05, making it a personal best for him.
Rounding up the top three in the 800 was Lake Stevens' Ki Thomas, in which he ran 2:07.33.
Gard ran a season best time of 2:27.86 beating Lake Stevens' Ashley Reeck, who ran 2:34.36.
Gard's teammates Jemma Wilcox and Kaitlyn Rust were second and third in the 1,600 running personal best times of 5:43.01 and 5:43.05.
Also placing second and third from Woodway in the girl's meet were Stephanie Wroblewski and Alyssa Hershey in the 3,200. They ran 12:37.86 and 12:37.98.
Meadowdale's Andrew Burk and Sonja Amy placed the highest for the Mustangs in their respective races.
Burk ran 2:18.26 to finished sixth in the boy's 800 and Amy ran 5:50.23 in the girl's 1,600 to place fifth.
All three schools will be at separate locations next week on Thursday, March 21.
Lake Stevens will host Kamiak, Meadowdale travels to Cedarcrest, and Woodway will be at Shoreline Stadium.
