Lake Washington Boy's, Brandenfels Secure Wins

Kirkland, WA - With a total of four wins, the Lake Washington boy's distance team and Belle Brandenfels had a successful day in a KingCo conference meet featuring Bellevue, Juanita, and Sammamish at Lake Washington High School.

Luca Andonian kicks off the first win for the Kangaroos as the sophomore won the boy's 1,600 meter by 13 seconds running a personal best time of 4:37.45.


John Hentges won the boy's 800 meter in 2:05.47 and Cole Bailey won the boy's 3,200 meter in 10:19.99.


Jeff Liu and Alan Avilez-Moreno finished in the top three for Lake Washington in their respective races. Liu was second in the 800 (2:11.69) and Avilez-Moreno was third in the 3,200 (10:39.98).


Sammamish's Tyler Thompson was third in the 800 running 2:12.64 and Thomas Johnson was second in the 3,200 running 10:28.15. Johnson's time is a personal best.


Juanita's Eric Marnadi and Bellevue's Alan Ngouent were second and third in the 1,600 as their teams top performers with times of 4:50.17 and 4:56.37.


Lake Washington's Brandenfels won the girl's 3,200 meter race by a close margin over her teammate, Chloe Cook, by four seconds running 12:20.73.


Cook ran a personal best time of 12:24.14 to place second.


Brandenfels was also second in the girl's 1,600 as she ran a time of 5:35.28.


Emma Languein from Juanita won the girl's 800 in a personal best time of 2:35.53 and Katherine Forsberg wont he 1,600 in a time of 5:31.15.


Sammamish's Ellie Pierce was second (2:38.81) and Lake Washington's Esther Strathy was third (2:40.65) in the 800. Both times are personal bests.


Sammamish's other top three finisher in a distance race was Kate Wilken in the 1,600 as she ran 5:35.58 for third place.


Bellevue's Kaitlyn LaMoria was third in the 3,200 running a personal best time in 13:04.06.


What's Next? Sammamish will travel up to Bellingham this Saturday for the Birger Solberg Invite, Bellevue will host a meet and Juanita will host Lake Washington next Wednesday.
