Tacoma, WA - Patience Mwaura and Amiyah Johnson of Lincoln High School swept all three distance races in a tri-meet at Mount Tahoma High School versus Mount Tahoma and Lakes Wednesday, March 13.
Johnson, a top 10 finisher in the 3A 1,600 state race last spring, won the 800 and 1,600 meter races in times of 2:31.16 and 5:28.25.
Mwaura, who placed fifth at the 3A state cross meet this past fall, finished a second behind Johnson in the 1,600 in 5:29.03 and took first in the 3,200 running 11:37.11.
Lakes' Rachelle Beyler was second in the 800 running 2:35.59, and Kivi Johnson was second in the 3,200 running 13:17.65, a personal best time.
Other finishers in the top three were Lakes' Savanna Hardman (6:03.40) in the 1,600 and Lincoln's Yesenia Hernandez (14:03.64) in the 3,200.
On the boy's side, Lincoln had top three finishers in all three races with Junie Guzman placing first in the 1,600 and was the top runner for the Abes.
Guzman's time was 4:52.16 and is a new personal best for him. He also was second in the 800 with a time of 2:15.17.
Guzman's teammates Tyson Ehnat was second in the 1,600 (5:17.06) and third in the 3,200 (11:35.76) and Elijah Anderson was second in the 3,200 (10:31.27).
Zachary Franco and Alex Mills of Lakes won the 800 and 3,200 races with their times of 2:04.84 and 10:30.27.
Lakes and Mount Tahoma will be hosting home meets and Lincoln will travel to Bonney Lake next week, March 20.
