Lions Win Big In Boy's Meet

Bellingham - The Lynden Lions boy's distance team dominated the field once again as they won all three 3 races against the Mount Baker Mountaineers in a NWC duel meet yesterday at Civic Stadium.


Leading the way for the Lion's was senior Tate Hutchins as won yet another 800 meter race in 1:59.65. Teammates Isaiah Ellis and Roscoe Perry ran personal best times in the 800 to finish 2nd and 3rd for Lynden. Ellis ran 2:02.49 and Perry ran 2:08.88.


Cole Crabtree won the boy's 1600 outkicking Baker's Nico Johnson by .2 tenths of a second for a personal best time of 5:08.88.


Carson VanCleve and Jimmy Harris finished 1st and 2nd in the 3200 for the Lions with times of 11:07.89 and 12:37.29.


On the girl's side, Mount Baker won the only 2 distance races of the day. Senior Bridgid Cronk placed 1st in the 1600 as she ran 6:50.58, a personal best. This would be Cronk's first ever high school track win. Freshman Shay Knutson won her first 800 meter race in high school running 2:46.08 for a personal best.


Lynden's top girl's were freshman Kaylee Alaniz in the 800 (2:48.5, 3rd) and Kaylee Despain in the 1600 (6:57.54, 2nd).
