Meets To Attend: More Local Meets in Week Three

Bellingham - After a week of exciting track in Lynden last week at the Bedlington Twilight, Whatcom County schools have their meets before they all take off on spring break and get ready for the annual Sehome Birger Solberg Invite. Here are the meets to attend this week.

Wednesday, March 28, 2018

Lakewood and Meridian @ Meridian High School, 3:30

-The Meridian Trojans have their first home meet of the year against the Cougars of Lakewood. Meridian's Nathan Schneider is coming off a 2nd place finish in the 3200 at the Bedlington Invite last week and looks to continue his success. Ashlee Van Den Top looks to bounce back from an 800 race she did not run at her best at Bedlington. Meridian is also prepping for the Clash of Conferences meet taking place at Sedro-Woolley High School on Friday.

Lynden Christian, Sedro-Woolley, and Blaine @ Blaine High School, 3:30

-Eric Steiger and Brooks DeWaard ran great races last week at Lynden as they both medaled. Look for both to compete in either the 800 or 1600. Blaine's Taylee McCormick and LC's Katie Dougan are the highlight in the girls meet.

Ferndale and Lynden @ Lynden High School, 4:00

-Ferndale's Landon Sturdevant and Lynden's Nick Kildall will most likely meet on the track for the 2nd week in a row after a wild 800 race at the Bedlington Invite last Friday evening. Lynden's Korneljia Houston ran a season best 1600 time in 5:49 last week and will probably go up against Ferndale's other freshman star Jaclyn Denham.

Mount Baker, Nooksack Valley, and Squalicum @ Civic Stadium 4:00

-Squalicum's Jonah Salomon and Nooksack's Alyce Harlan were last weeks 1600 and 3200 Bedlington Invite champions. Salomon ran a personal best 4:37, and Harlan ran a season best 11:51. Mount Baker's Nico Johnson returns after missing out at last Fridays invite and hopes to run another personal best in the 1600.
