Laurel - It takes a lot of hard work to break the 4:50 mark in the 1600, but Meridian's Nathan Schneider didn't shy away from the challenge as the junior ran his best 1600 time ever winning in a time of 4:47.47 against Squalicum and Burlington at Meridian High School yesterday.
Not only did Schneider P.R., he also won by a big margin beating Squalicum's Mark Behee by 8 seconds. Schneider's best mark up until yesterday in the 1600 was 4:57.8 at the Clash of Conferences earlier this year.
The Meridian boy's also got win out of 800 runner Jensen Ellars as he too ran a personal best time running 2:03.59.
Squalicum swept the first 3 spots in the 3200 with Jonah Salomon leading the way for the Storm in a personal best time of 10:20.73.
In the girl's meet, senior Ashlee Van Den Top of Meridian won the 1600 in a season best mark, 5:35.95. Teammate McKenna Holz placed in the same race running 5:55.7.
Squalicum's top girl was senior Grace Oswin in the 800 as she won in 2:31.29. Abby Koenig placed in 2nd behind Oswin to give the Storm 8 more points. She ran 2:36.98. Squalicum girl's also got a win in the 3200 from freshman Kristina Montero-Duong.
