BOISE - For the second consecutive year, a Washington runner claims the title, "Northwest's best."
Just a week after winning her first state championship in Pasco, Skyline's (Skyline Spartans XC) Anna Callahan came out on top again at Eagle Island State Park in Boise, winning the NXR Northwest girls championship race.
The junior from Sammamish covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17 minutes, 35.9 seconds to secure the win and earned herself an individual berth to Nike Cross Nationals, which will take place on Dec. 3 in Portland.
Last year, Kennewick's Macy Marquardt, now a freshman at Boise State, won the girls championship race in 17:27.8 but wasn't able to race at NXN due to the cancellation of the meet.
