Pirates' Apperson Continues Senior Success

Chehalis, WA - Adna's Austen Apperson performances in the 800 and 1,600 meter races yesterday, March 26, at Pirates Stadium proved once again why he has been dominating the 2B boy's ranks the last four years.

The defending 2B boy's state champion in the 800 and 1,600 won both of his races yesterday in a significant amount running 2:02.02 and 4:20.8.


Apperson, who is also a two-time cross country state champion at the 1B/2B level, was a leg on the Pirates winning 1,600 meter relay team that ran 3:39.96.


Toledo's Nicholas Marty won the 3,200 boy's race running a season best time in 10:44.93. Marty also placed second in the 1,600 (4:42.12) and third in the 800 (2:11.69).


Marty's teammates Cody Harris was third in the 3,200 for the Indians as he ran 12:24.44, a season best time .


Riley Kent from Toutle Lake finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:10.13 and third in the 1,600 with a time of 4:43.89.


Other top finishers from their respective schools were Asher Sympson from Morton White Pass in the 1,600 (4th, 5:18.75) and 3,200 (2nd, 11:37.69) and Kale Jeg from Napavine in the 1,600 (10th, 6:29.2).


On the girl's side, Toutle Lake had two athletes from their school win an individual race, as well as take the top two placings in both of them.


Meleah Kandoll won the 1,600 in 5:30.3 and took second in the 3,200 in 12:54.46, while Darla Kandoll won the 3,200 in 12:37.76 and took second in the 1,600 in 5:58.9.


Meleah's 1,600 and Darla's 3,200 times are personal best marks.


Adna's Lauryn Apperson won the 800 race running a season best time of 2:36.49. She was also a leg on the winning 800 and 1,600 meter relay teams for the Pirates.


Kaylen Collette was third in the 1,600 (6:14.24) and 3,200 (13:51.19) and Elexcious Hampton was also third in the 800 (2:58.23) for Morton White Pass.


Toledo's Greenlee Clark placed second in the 800 (2:46.94) and fourth in the 1,600 (6:23.58) as the Indians' top runner.


Adna, Morton White Pass, Napavine and Toutle Lake will all be together at Rainier High School and Toledo will be at Mossy Rock on Thursday, April 11.
