Pasco, WA - The Walla Walla Blue Devils came away with five wins in distance races yesterday, May 1, in the final Mid-Columbia Conference dual meet of the regular season versus the Pasco Bulldogs and the Chiawana Riverhawks.
Cooper Cortinas led the charge on the boy's side for the Blue Devils running a personal best time of 2:00.12 in his victory in the 800 meter race.
Cannon Angotti won the boy's 3,200 meter race by a second over Pasco's Leo Llamas running 10:44.59. Angotti was also third in the 800 running a time of 2:04.96.
Another top three finisher from Walla Walla on the boy's side was Braden Hisaw in the 1,600 as he placed second running a time of 4:47.71.
The Walla Walla girl's swept all three races in their meet led by freshman duo Sariah Hepworth and Olivia Isenhower.
Hepworth won the 1,600 meter race in a time of 5:38.75, and Isenhower won the 3,200 in a time of 13:13.56. Isenhower's teammate, Sydney Watson, was second by .03 tenths, but managed to run a personal best time of 13:13.59.
Ella Nelson crushed the girl's 800 running a time of 2:17 and winning by 12 seconds.
Pasco's Elias Torres won the boy's 1,600 in a time of 4:45.65, and finished second in the 800 running 2:04.92.
Leo Llamas was second in the 3,200 (10:45.71) and third in the 1,600 (4:50.05), and Marcus Hernandez was third in the 3,200 (10:54.06) for the Bulldogs.
The top runner from Pasco on the girl's side was Kaelyn Royal finishing third in the 3,200 with a personal best time of 13:17.88.
Chiawana's Alexa Neff (2:29.43) and Hailey Bullis (2:36.26) were second and third in the girl's 800, and Caitlin Neff (5:45.3) and Grace Christensen (5:55.52, PR) were also second and third in the girl's 1,600.
Austin Bachman's fourth place finish in the 800 (2:05.27) was the Riverhawks top placer on the boy's side.
What's Next? Walla Walla, Pasco, and Chiawana will travel to the Tri-Cities for the Richland Twilight this Friday.
