This last Saturday in Seattle, Washington State University's Colton Johnsen ran in his first competitive race since the MPSF Championships back in February last indoor season in 2020 winning the men's 3,000-meter in a new personal best time of 7:56.14.
Before running for the Cougs, Johnsen was a three-time state medalist in both cross country and track at Sehome High School in Bellingham, which included two runner-up finishes at the 2015 2A State Cross Country Meet and in the 3,200-meter at the 2016 2A State Track Meet.
Johnsen had personal-best marks of 4:15.95 in the 1,600-meter, 9:21.99 in the 3,200-meter and 15:46 for 5k in cross country during his high school career.
Keenan Gray chatted with Johnsen over Zoom about his recent race, as well as what his training has been like for the last year since the shut down of sports and his goal of making it to the NCAA's this winter.
Great interview. Go Colton!!!
