Time to show the little schools some love as we all burrow down in the so called "snow-apocalypse". Introducing the top boys runners at the 2B level to watch for this track season and expect to see in Cheney at state.
Austen Apperson - Adna

For the last four years, Austen Apperson has proven he is one of, if not, the best 2B runner this state has ever seen in recent memory. The Adna senior is the defending state champion in all three distance races from last spring where he scored himself 30 points for his team. Apperson ran personal best times of 1:57.2, 4:17.31, and 9:19.07. He also has two cross country state titles under his belt, with the most recent one coming this past fall where he won by 25 seconds. Apperson is also an all-league basketball player in the 2B Central League.
Justin Roosma - Walla Walla Valley

Justin Roosma wins his districts qualifying races, but somehow doesn't attend the state meets. The senior ran a personal best time of 15:22.4 this past fall but did not race at the 1B/2B state cross meet. However, in his junior track season, Roosma finished in second behind Apperson at the 2B state track meet in the 1,600. His time was 4:19.34, also a personal best. Roosma was the second ranked 800 meter runner at the 2B level with a time of 1:58.6 in the spring too, but did not run at the state track meet in this event.
Noah Phillips - Northwest Christian (Lacey)

Northwest Christian of Lacey seems to be the school with the most consistent runners to have success as Noah Phillips has shown through his first three years of high school running what he is capable of. The junior helped the Navigators to their fifth consecutive 1B/2B state team title this fall with his second place finish in 16:21.3. As a sophomore, Phillips finished in the top five in all three distance races at the 2B state track meet. He was fourth in the 800, fifth in the 1,600, and third in the 3,200.
