Eisenhower's Price Wins Big 9 League Meet

YAKIMA - Eisenhower's Jonas Price, the state’s top runner for all classifications, cruised to a solid victory yesterday, September 19, in a Big 9 League meet held at Franklin Park versus six other schools.

Price, the top returning 4A runner and heavy favorite to win the state race, ran a time of 15:39.3 for the 3 mile race. A few weeks ago, Price threw down a 15:02.2 down at the Ash Creek Cross Country Festival at Western Oregon University to win the 5,000 meter race.


The Cadets were second overall in team standings with 42 points. Along with Price, Amha Alemeneh and Nathan Valenzuela helped in scoring as they placed fifth and seventh running times of 17:03.61 and 17:08.93.


West Valley of Yakima won the meet scoring 31 points, led by top 800 runner in the state Brayden Packard, who ran 16:13.84 to place second. Anthony Carlasico and Ben Connell were third and fourth running 16:57.31 and 17:01.34 for the Rams.


Lars Sorom was the Wenatchee Panthers top runner helping the team to a third place finish placing 13th overall in a time of 17:49.39.


Moses Lake's Nicholas Elliot ran 17:06.94 to finish sixth, and Sunnyside's Reid Weaver and Eastmont's Adrian Cabrera were eight and ninth with times of 17:11.13 and 17:13.11.


Eisenhower's Hannah Hilton (2nd, 20:07.08) and Ciera Reyes (7th, 20:35.02) led the Cadets on the girl's side to a 15 points victory over West Valley, 48-63.


West Valley's top runners were a third place finish from Lilly Fetzer in 20:11.79 and a 10th place finish from Rachel Argento in 21:16.1.


Wenatchee freshman Tatum Grosdidier took first overall winning her first high school race of her career in a time of 19:49.2 and helped the Panthers to a third place finish with 69 ponts.


Last Saturday, she was the second fastest freshman at the Highlander Invite in the varsity race.


Renell Christensen of A.C. Davis was fourth with a time of 20:14.29 and Eastmont's Ashlyn Hill was sixth in 20:29.36.


Moses Lake's fourth place team finish was led by Carlie Gregg and Mikayla Cooper who ran 20:24.47 and 21:07.01.

Lincoln/WS/Hale/Roosevelt/RB/Clev/CS:

- Roosevelt boys and girls score a combine total of 43 points and had their own William Cunningham and Sloane Selenis win their respective races.


Mountlake Terrace, Mt Vernon @ MGHS

- Alex Williams and the Mountlake Terrace boys defeated Mt Vernon and Marysville Getchell in a WESCO tri-meet. William won the race in a time of 16:04 for the 2.9 mile race.
