Mariners Compete in Tough Course at Curtis Invite

Tacoma, WA - Sehome's cross country teams made another long trip to an invite this last Saturday going to the Curtis Invite at Chambers Bay Golf Course in Tacoma. This was another unique invite where there wasn't any team scoring and they split the varsity runners up No. 1-4 and No. 5-8 in separate races.

Reed Smith of the No. 2 Sehome boy's was 13th in the No. 1-4 race running 16:42.60. Teammate Jacob Alexander was 20th in the same and his time was 16:57.50.


1st place finisher Sanjay Ramen of Lakeside-Seattle ran 16:05.50, the fastest time of the day. Mead's Caleb Lloyd was 2nd in 16:14.90 and Yelm's Bryce Cerkowniak was 3rd in 16:16.30.


Coleman Brummel was the Mariners top runner in the No. 5-8 race with his 19th place finish and a time of 18:16.70. Mead went 1-2 in the same race with AJ Paulson taking the win in 17:16.80.


In the girls meet, No. 9 Sehome's Isabelle Douglas and Rosie Kirker went on to place 23rd and 26th in the No. 1-4 race. Douglas ran 20:29 and Kirker ran 20:34.60. Host Curtis had their own Rees Jacot win this race running 18:51.40, a 2 second victory over Ingraham's Anya Hirschfield, who ran 18:53.60.


Jonquil Loeffelholz's and Gracia Powell 32nd and 33rd place finish led all Mariners in the No. 5-8 race. Loeffelholz ran 23:10.10, followed by Powell running 23:15.50. Ballard freshman Abby MacDonald was 1st in the same race and her time was 20:40.90

What's Next?


Sehome will be at Lake Padden on Wednesday for the "City Meet" against Squalicum and Bellingham.
