Bellingham, WA - The No. 2 Sehome boys and No. 9 Bellingham girls cross country teams beat their local rival schools in the City Meet, featuring Squalicum too, on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd at Lake Padden, a 2.6 mile course.
Reed Smith and Jacob Alexander 1st and 2nd place finishes help the Mariners to a six point victory over Squalicum 31-37. Smith ran 13:42.1 and Alexander ran 13:53.1. Roman Schroyer and Max Gargano were two other runner from Sehome to finish in the top 10 placing 6th and 8th running 14:22.5 and 14:23.4.
Squalicum's Ben Latta ran 14:15.2 for a 3rd place run, followed by Joe Brodeur in 4th with a time of 14:16.5. Silas Shellito was 9th in 14:25.2 and Mo Oswin was 10th in 14:39.7 for the Storm.
Jensen Kintzele and Claeb Schmotzer of Bellingham were the Red Raiders highest placers with Kintzele running 14:19.7 for 5th and Schmotzer running 14:23.2 for 7th. Bellingham scored 56 points for 3rd place.
The girls meet was another close contest and a top 10 matchup between two 2A schools. No. 9 Bellingham took down No. 8 Sehome 34-39 and Annika Reiss won her 5th race this season in a time of 15:10.2, almost a minute faster than the 2nd place finisher.
Reiss's teammates Grace Much and Livi Lackland Henry finished 4th and 5th in 16:16.3 and 16:53.1 and were a big key in helping Bellingham get their 3rd dual meet win of the season.
Sehome was led by Rosie Kirker as she placed 2nd overall in a time of 16:06.1. Isabelle Douglas took 6th running 17:13.8, and Emma Berreth and Celia McDowall took 9th and 10th to round out the top 10 running 17:41.7 and 17:48.1.
Laura Halsell from Squalicum was 3rd for the Storm and her time was 16:13.3. Along with Halsell, the Storm got good placings from Grace Doud and Maria Salomon. Doud was 7th with a time of 17:16.3 and Salomon was 8th in 17:19.5. Squalicum was 3rd as a team scoring 54 points.

What's Next?
Sehome and Squalicum will travel to Lakewood High School for the Nike Hole in the Wall Invitational tomorrow morning, while Bellingham won't have a meet till Oct. 11 for the Lake Lap Invite at Lake Padden.
