Tigers Sweep Team Titles at Dani Bates Invite

Athay, Eddington led Idaho Falls with top five finishes in each race.

TWIN FALLS, ID - Idaho Falls continues to prove both their boy's and girl's programs are some of the best in the state capturing both team titles on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Dani Bates Invite at the Canyon Springs Golf Course.


The top ranked Tigers on the boys side scored an impressive 34 points in the 20 team invite led by Mitchell Athay coming away with the individual title running a 5k time of 15:40 defeating Pocatello's Shane Gard by .6 tenths of a second.


Three other Tigers finished in the top 10 to help with scoring in Joseph Ereaux (16:16.5, 6th), Luke Athay (16:16.6, 7th), and University of Idaho commit Zac Bright (16:24.5, 9th). Jaden Little was 12th running 16:32.3 to round up the top five for Idaho Falls.


Gard and Pocatello finished second in the team standings scoring 65 points.


Soda Springs was third with 130 points led by the 16th place finish from Carter McCullough running 16:58.6.


Pocatello's Brevin Vaughan (15:58.5, 3rd), Century's Xander Thompson (16:03.6, 4th), and Canyon Ridge's Ryker Holtzen (16:10.5, 5th) were other top individuals in the boys race.


Eighth ranked Idaho Falls girl's scored 66 points for their team win in the 17 team invite led by Elanor Eddington's fourth place finish running 19:27.9, as well as seventh and ninth place finishes from Allison Lemons (19:48.8) and Jennalee Lewis (20:05.3).


Hannah Kohler (20:44, 17th) and Paige Scates (21:22, 29th) were among the top five for the Tigers.


Pocatello's Bailey Bird won the individual title running 18:50.5 while leading the Indians to second place team finish scoring 86 points.


Raft River was third with 126 points led by the second and third place individual finishes from Kaybree (18:58.1) and Karlee (19:13.6) Christensen.


Other top individuals in the girls race included Twin Falls' Brittany Garling (19:45, 5th) and Sugar-Salem's Jaresa Jackson (19:47.4, 6th).
