Nike Twilight Invite
A historic season continues you on for the Central Kitsap girls after another all-around team effort at the Nike Twilight Invite on Saturday at the Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville.
Competing in the 3A/4A division race, the Cougars finished second as a team with 80 points and knocked off the defending 4A state cross country champions Eastlake by 78 points.
Central Kitsap had four scorers finish in the top 20, led by Clare Herring in a time of 18 minute, 27.7 seconds for the 5,000 meter race to place fifth overall. Following Herring were Audra (18:37.80) and Taylor Palmer (18:46.30) finishing 10th and 11th and Camryn Bishoff (19:26.50) placing 20th.
Eastlake, third with 158 points, was led by Jane (18:57.10) and Sally Roos (19:34.70), finishing 14th and 21st overall.
Lake Stevens and Bothell finished fourth and fifth, respectively, scoring 177 points and 187 points. The Vikings were led by Alexis Buhman in 25th, running 19:40.10. Lauren Hoyt finished ninth in 18:36.90 for the Cougars.
Jesuit out of Portland, Oregon scored an impressive 57 points to win the team title with Maura O'Scannlain leading the way with a third-place finish in a season best time of 18:05.3.
Annastasia Peters from Post Falls (Idaho) took the individual title in a season best effort of 17:31.1 and won by 31 seconds. Skyline's Rebecca O'Keefe was runner-up in a personal best time of 18:02.8.
Auburn Riverside's Julia Couch ran a personal best time of 18:27 to place fourth and Franklin's Sabrina Colbert followed a close second in a personal best time of 18:28 to place sixth.
Snohomish's Paige Gerrard came within four seconds of Nike Portland XC personal best time as she ran 18:33.5 to place seventh.
The Eastlake boys tested the No. 6 nationally ranked Jesuit boys in the 3A/4A race but fell short by a score of 35-46.
The Wolves finished with four runners cracking the top 15 led by Ethan Pedersen's third place run of 15:13.10.
Noah Zahn was fifth in 15:28.5, Connor Hom placed eighth in 15:36.70 and Justin Hom finished 12th in 15:49 for Eastlake — all personal best efforts.
Blake Reynolds finished sixth overall in 15:29.20 to lead Central Kitsap to a third-place team finish with a score of 148 points.
Shorecrest's Luke Schmidt was seventh in a season best time of 15:30.8.
Mercer Island took fourth with 173 points, led by Owen Powell finishing 13th in 15:52.90.
Milwaukee's (Oregon) Logan Law edged out Jesuit's Jacob Nenow for the individual title by a margin of 14:51.90 to 14:52.80.
Jessica Frydenlund and the Anacortes girls put together a dominating team performance in the 1B-2A girls race, defeating Northwest Conference rival Sehome 36-123.
Frydenlund clocked in a new season best time of 17:44.80 to come away with her fourth win of her senior season. Her time ranks No. 1 in 2A and No. 2 in the entire state this season.
Following Frydenlund in the top-10 were teammates Carolyn Chambers (19:07.80) and Casey Lemrick (19:40.30), placing second and 10th for the Seahawks.
Julie Gill led the second-place Mariners with an eighth place run in a season best time of 19:34.2.
Northwest's Isla Chadsey took third in a personal best time of 19:10.20.
Overlake, led by Sarah Guralnick's 30th place personal best run in 20:57.5, scored 143 points to place third in the team standings.
Squalicum held off city rival Sehome 55-61 to take home the 1B-2A boys team title.
Evan Rush ran to a personal best 15:46.4 to place second overall and lead all Storm runners. Owen Voigt ran a personal best 15:59.8 to place fifth and Chase Barlett took seventh in a personal best 16:00.2 for Squalicum.
Sehome's Zack Munson won the individual title in 15:05.10 to lead the Mariners and teammate Skyler Gillham took sixth in a personal best 16:00.1.
London Haley finished eighth for third place Cedarcrest (152 points), running a personal best time of 16:06.7.

Curtis Invite
The Mt. Spokane boys defeated Gig Harbor in a clash of two of the best 3A teams in the state this season in the Division 1 race at the Curtis Invite at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place.
The Wildcats scored 61 points to beat Gig Harbor's 96 to win its second invite title in 2022. Parker Westermann had himself a day to lead Mt. Spokane with a seventh place run in a personal best time of 16:13.9.
Four other Mt. Spokane runners finished in the top 20 to help in scoring as Ben Smith (16:27.9) finished 11th, Kade Brownell (16:34.6) placed 13th, Ben Sonneland (16:44) took 16th and Matt Conrad (16:46.6) was 18th.
Gig Harbor had four runners finish in the top 10 with Micah Galeana leading the way in fourth, running 15:57.7, followed by Preston Fradet (16:03.7) in fifth, Jonathan Miles (16:13.2) in sixth and Tyler Campbell (16:21.2) in ninth.
Bishop Blanchet took third with 102 points, led by Johnny DiMartino placing eighth in a season best 16:14.4.
Emerald Ridge's Conner Wirth and Port Angeles' Jack Gladfelter battled it out for the individual title with Wirth coming away with the win in a 15:32.9 to 15:35.4 margin.
Yelm's Zachary Walsh placed third overall in a personal best effort of 15:54.8.
Redmond's Zachary Leaders rounds out the top 10, running 16:22.9.
Bishop Blanchet's Lily LaPorte, the reigning 3A 1,600 state champion, made her season debut by winning the Division 1 girls individual title in a season best time of 18:27.1. The sophomore led the Bears to a third-place finish with 150 points.
Gig Harbor took down Stadium in the team race 84-127 as Reese Morkert and Taylor Sletner finished fourth and 11th, respectively, in times of 18:41.5 and 19:13.1 to lead the Tides.
Katelyn Galloway was the runner-up in a time of 18:33.7 for Stadium, with Natalie Blake cracking the top 10 for the Tigers as well, running 18:59.3 to place seventh.
Defending 4A 3,200 state champion Eliza White also made her season debut with a third-place finish in a personal best time of 18:33.8.
Port Townsend's Aliyah Yearian broke the 19-minute barrier for the first time in her career, running 18:42.1 to place fifth.
Peninsula's Elektra Higgins placed eighth in 19:03.9, Union's Charlotte Wilson finished ninth in 19:05.3, and Bonney Lake's Latham West finished 10th in 19:06.
Jefferson Smith of South Kitsap placed third in the Division 2 boys race, running 17:10 to lead the Wolves over Seattle Prep 127-158 for the team title.
West Valley's (Spokane) Tony Belko outkicked North Kitsap's Quinny Stuart to win the individual title in a time of 17:06.4. Stuart crossed the finish line in 17:08.4.
Meadowdale's Payton Conover won the Division 2 girls race in a season best time of 20:06.1. North Kitsap's Salix Wartes-Kahl took second in a season best 20:06.3.
White River's Emma Tomlinson grabbed third place in a season best time of 20:47.9.
South Hills out of California won the team title over Capital 155-161.
49th Annual Sunfair Invite
Evan Bruce and the Lewis and Clark boys put up a good fight against fellow 4A competitor Issaquah at this year's Sunfair Invite held at Franklin Park in Yakima.
The Tigers and Eagles tied 24-24 for second place but fell in favor of LC as they had more individual second place finishes between the seven flights ran.
Bruce finished second in the elite field to lead LC, running a season best 15:28.09. Issaquah's Brennen Rickey placed seventh in 16:16.12.
Lakes' Zander Trevino placed third overall in a personal best time of 15:38.7 and Medical Lake's Reid Headrick took fourth in 15:15.2, also a personal best.
Caden Casteel led fourth place West Valley (Yakima) with a 16:13.56 effort to place sixth in the elite field.
Eisenhower's Nathan Johnson took eighth in a personal best 16:26.4 and Richland's Jace Woodward rounded out the field, placing ninth in 16:50.22.
Lincoln's (Oregon) Samy Anderson ran 15:19.99 to win the individual title and lead the Cardinals to the team title with a perfect score of seven points.
Katherine Yahn and the Issaquah girls finished third in the team standings with 29 points as Yahn led the way with a first-place effort in the elite field, running a personal best 18:47.97.
West Valley, led by Katie Murdock's seventh place run of 20:30.80 in the elite field, placed fourth with 30 points.
Eisenhower's Isabela Alvarado ran to a second-place finish in the elite field, running a time of 18:53.62.
Other notable finishes in the elite field were Medical Lake's Kayla Ramsey taking fourth in 19:28, Kennewick's Morgan Thompson placing sixth in 20:07.73 and Eastmont's Hannah Mikkelson earning eighth in 21:07.11.
The Lincoln girls scored nine points to win the team title over Eagle (Idaho), who scored 18 points.
